| hermana kennedy leaves today. I took this two hours ago :) |
Monday we went and saw Los Morenos, our little cute member family, and of course Eric (Danny's boyfriend) was there. Danny asked us if we could share something from the Bible to show Eric that we believe in the bible and the Book of Mormon. So we shared Daniel and the Lion's den. And then we acted it out :) Oh my gosh- it was so funny. We had Eric be the King, and the dogs be the lions. It was hilarious. I'll have to show you the video of it one day :)
Okay, miracle of the week. Ready for it? So I got a call from our Zone Leader, Elder Evertsen (Who seriously looks exactly like Clark Kent. Anyway....) and he told me that there was going to be a baptism in my last area! I don't know if I ever told you about Anita, but she's way awesome. But it's been forever since I taught her and the APs are like- sort of discouraging us from going to old area baptisms now so that we can work in our own areas more. So he called and was like "the choice is yours" and I told him I'd think about it and call him in the morning. Then he's like "Well, do you have any other investigators that are having any problems or anything?" And I was like- well, we have Antonio who's AWESOME and would totally get baptized but he works every single day until 9. So we never get to see him. And then Elder Eversten was like "I could call President Ashton for you and see if you could teach him later and have permission to come home late." Well... long story short, we got permission to be home at 10:15 on nights we teach Antonio- with the instructions "Let's get him baptized."
So- the next day, it was 9:00 PM, we were out of our area, raining, and we rode our little tails off to Gabby's house to see Antonio. It was quite an adventure. I was praying the whole time that we'd have a good lesson with him- it was kind of a make it or break it deal. So we got there and taught Antonio about the Atonement and the blessings of baptism. I don't even remember what we said and I don't even know if anything we said mattered but the Spirit was there and I know it taught Antonio that night. We told him to pray about baptism, and see if it's something the Lord wants him to do. He said, okay. He paused for a minute, like really thinking about what he was going to say to a Father that was really there and really going to give him an answer. Then he gave the most beautiful prayer I've ever heard in my life. Just every desire of his heart, everything that he was truely thankful for, the things that he really wanted to know. And afterwards we just sat there for a minute because the Spirit was SO STRONG. Antonio said "That felt good. I need to pray like that more often." He's going to be baptized. We told him the 29th and he said he was going to pray about it and that he was going to take everything more seriously. "I know I'm going to be baptized and I don't know when but let me tell you, it's going to be soon." Daaaah!!! It was seriously the coolest thing ever. Antonio is so converted to the Lord. And I realize that's what missionary work is - really - all we do is try and help people put themselves into the Lord's hands, because once they're there, they're safe, guided and protected. It's all about faith and trusting him, repenting and being purified, trying everyday to follow His footsteps and trust him enough to keep His commandments. I love the gospel!!!!!
Anyway, that's all I've got time for. I know that the Lord hears and answers our prayers. I know that the Book of Mormon has the answers to our questions, that it can guide us everyday in our lives. I know that Christ lives. I'm so grateful for His example of selfless service and love.
I LOVE YOU!!! Para Siempre!!
